US HOCKEY TEAM FACES NEIGHBORLY NEMESIS IN OLYMPIC SEMI-FINAL

3-11-3 Record in Olympics

The US Men’s Hockey Team will meet neighbor Canada in the Olympic Semi-Final on Friday.   Their overall record against Canada in Olympic play is a miserable 3-11-3 with only 1 win in the last 54 years.

One of those wins came in the final round of play in 1960 at Squawx Valley en route to the country’s first hockey gold medal.

The teams have met in one other Semi-Final and in the Gold Medal Game in Salt Lake City (2002) and Vancouver (2010) – all of which Canada won.

After Canada beat the U.S. on its home ice at Salt Lake City, in 2010 the U.S. returned the favor by winning its opening round game against Canada.   In the gold medal thriller, Canada won the rematch in overtime after the United States tied the game in the final seconds of regulation
