Coming off the first championship of the Phil Jackson, Shaq and Kobe era, the Lakers faced a number of challenges in repeating. Shaq’s slow start due to poor offseason conditioning,  injuries to Kobe and a growing feud between the two had the team in disarray.  They went 7-7 during a stretch from March 9 – April 1st with Kobe out of the line during several of the losses.

Turning A Corner

But then they came together.  Winning their last 8 games of the season to take over first place from Sacramento.
