Basketball’s Crown Prince and Good Will Ambassador Dies at 83
Meadowlark Lemon, the most famous of the Harlem Globetrotters and Crown Price of basketball has died at the age of 83. Lemon played more than 16,000 games for the Globetrotters from 1953-1979. Lemon’s website indicates the traveled more than 5 million miles and “brought smiles to generations of fans in over 100 countries from Austria to Zimbabwe.”
Lemon, whom Wilt Chamberlain called the best player of all time, was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
