This weekend’s local Nielsen ratings for football was telling for the Los Angeles market. On a busy football weekend, the Rams came in 4th and below its worst outing in St. Louis (which was up against a St. Louis Cardinals World Series game). The Rams market share so far this season is only half that of what it was in its last year in St. Louis.
Keep in mind, however, that the Rams have not exactly been an exciting football team. They are the lowest scoring team in the NFL and have scored 10 points or less in over half of their games.

The Raiders’ strong showing could renew interest in the Los Angeles market, while the Chargers dismal ratings might have the opposite effect.
In terms of attendance, the Rams have the second biggest venue in the league and are seventh overall, but near the bottom in percentage capacity. Oakland and San Diego are at the bottom in both categories.
